Vicksburg Murder Suspect Held Without Bond

VICKSBURG, MS (Ben Caxton) — The suspect accused of killing a man in Vicksburg last weekend has been denied bond. 31-year-old Rico DeMichael Hay made his first court appearance yesterday before Municipal Court Judge Toni Terrett. Hay is charged with first-degree murder in the death of 22-year-old Corey Maxie Jr. of Edwards. Vicksburg Police responded to reports of a physical disturbance on Fayette Street just after midnight Sunday morning. At the scene they found Maxie lying in the street with what police described as a single gunshot wound to the head. Warren County Coroner Doug Huskey declared Maxie dead at the scene.
