Vicksburg Mayor Talking Up Port Idea In Washington Again

WASHINGTON, DC (Ben Caxton) — Vicksburg’s Mayor, George Flaggs, Jr. is back in Washington D.C. again. This time he’s attending the National League of Cities Congressional City Conference. Recently he’s spent time meeting with President Trump, pitching among others things a new multi-modal port for Vicksburg, which the Mayor calls a “game-changer” that would provide up to 500 jobs to the area. He was in Washington last week as a member of a group of Warren County officials and business leaders visiting the state’s congressional delegation where the port idea also was discussed. While there he spent time to attend the Mississippi River Cities and Towns Initiative Annual Capitol Conference as well.
