Vicksburg Driveby Shooting Injures Teenager

VICKSBURG, MS (Ben Caxton) — A Friday night drive-by shooting in Vicksburg sent a local teenager to the hospital. Vicksburg police they are looking for18-year-old Darion Turner and 20-year-old Tony Dewayne Smoots Jr. who they believe may have fired the shots that wound up hitting the victim in the chest while he was in the parking lot of JP&K Foods on Halls Ferry Road in Marcus Bottom around 10:00 PM. Police say the shooting was the result of a fight in which Turner and Smoots went to their car and fired shots before leaving the scene. The victim was reported to be in stable condition at Merit Health River Region. This is the second incident at the store in three months which has now been closed by the city.
