Utah Woman Sues After Mississippi Fair Injuries

JACKSON, MS (Ben Caxton) — A Utah woman is suing Mississippi’s Fair Commission for negligence and emotional anguish. Lindsay Casperson of Kaysville, Utah claims she went airborne on a 40-foot super slide and injured her back at the State Fair. Casperson said she saw fair workers spraying liquid onto the slide before her ride in 2018. Riders place their feet into burlap sacks and shoot down a slope. Their bodies can temporarily lift while descending and she had to receive medical treatment in an ambulance before being taken to a hospital where she was diagnosed with a bulging disc in her back. The slide has operated for 30 years and is one of the fair’s most popular rides.
