Two More Human West Nile Cases Confirmed

JACKSON, MS (Ben Caxton) — The Mississippi State Department of Health has reported two new human cases of West Nile Virus in Forrest and Lamar Counties. That brings the state’s total to five this year as cases were reported last month in Copiah, Hinds, and Smith counties. Symptoms of West Nile are often mild and most infected people recover, but people 50 and over are more likely to develop complications or even death.
