Two Mississippi Colleges Are A Best Value

MISSISSIPPI (Ben Caxton) — Two Mississippi colleges are ranked as “Best Values” for regional universities in the South by US News & World Report. William Carey University ranked third among regional schools and Mississippi College ranked number 12. In addition to academic qualities, the rankings used factors like the net cost of attendance for a student who received the average amount of need-based financial aid, the percentage of all undergraduates receiving need-based awards and the percentage of a school’s total cost covered by the awards. Tuition and fees at William Carey, where 96% of the students receive need-based grants, are $12,300 with room and board about a third of the total. Tuition and fees at Mississippi College are $17,392; room and board charges are $9,610. 48% of the students on the Clinton campus receive need-based grants.
