Two Lady Bulldogs Selected in WNBA Draft

NEW YORK, NY (Ben Caxton) — Mississippi State’s Teaira McCowan was selected by the Indiana Fever as the 3rd overall pick in last week’s WNBA Draft. An All-American and SEC Player of the Year, McCowan led the Bulldogs with 18 points and 13 rebounds per game. She will join her former Bulldog teammate Victoria Vivians on the Fever, but Vivians will miss the upcoming season after tearing her ACL. This was the first time since 2010 that two Bulldogs were selected in the WNBA Draft. Anriel Howard was selected by the Seattle Storm in the second round. In one season at Mississippi State, Howard was named First-Team All-SEC averaging 16 points and 8 rebounds per game.
