BENTONIA, MS (Ben Caxton) — The National Weather Service has confirmed two tornadoes in central Mississippi last weekend. No one was injured when a twister with top winds of 90 mph struck Bentonia about 1:30 Sunday morning. The EF-1 tornado was on the ground for about a mile and a half with a path as wide as 200 yards, destroying several barns and sheds and damaging homes and a store. Another tornado with top winds of 75 mph hit near Flora and traveled 6 miles before dissipating near Madison. On Saturday high winds and hail partially collapsed the roof of a Greenville nursing home, forcing the evacuation of 50 residents.
