Turkey Frying Can Incinerate Your House

THE DELTA (Ben Caxton) — Thanksgiving Day is the number one day for home cooking fires in the United States, with four times more than any other day of the year. Fried turkey is the cause of many of those fires. Putting a cold turkey in hot grease can cause an explosion, so if you plan on frying your bird make sure it’s thawed out first and always keep a fire extinguisher handy. If your fryer catches fire, call 911. Dousing hot oil with water could create an even bigger blaze.
