Troopers Searching for Crash and Run Driver

THE DELTA (Ben Caxton) — Mississippi Highway Patrol Troopers are searching for the driver of a crashed Cadillac discovered on U.S. 61 who fled the scene of the wreck Thursday evening. MHP spokesman Ronny Shive says the 2004 Cadillac CTS was headed southbound on Highway 61 when the driver appears to have lost control of the vehicle and flipped the car, coming to rest upside down in the northbound lane of traffic. Even though deputies were on scene within minutes, the driver was nowhere to be found. Owners of the vehicle were contacted and said they had lent the car to a friend, who in turned loaned it to someone else and police are searching for that person. Local hospitals contacted showed no record of anyone being admitted for injuries consistent with a traffic accident. Shive said leaving the scene of an accident is a crime.
