Tourism Board Skips Long Discussion Of Allen Embezzlement

COAHOMA COUNTY, MS (Ben Caxton) — The Coahoma County Tourism Commission met yesterday, and the indictment of former executive director Kappi Allen only briefly discussed. State Auditor Shad White says Allen embezzled approximately $93,000 over four years through fraudulent use of a credit card and issuing unauthorized checks, and has demanded another nearly $50,000 for interest and investigative costs. In other matters the board approved travel for executive director Bubba O’Keefe to attend meetings and festivals in Vicksburg later this month, in London and Franklin, Tennessee in September and St. Louis in December.
