Tornadoes and Storms Likely This Evening

THE DELTA (Ben Caxton) — Forecaster say a severe weather outbreak is likely late this afternoon and tonight across the Delta. The Storms Prediction Center says there is a “Moderate” risk of tornadoes, some possibly strong, damaging winds of 60 to 70 mph, and up to golf ball sized hail in an area stretching from northern Lousiana across southeastern Arkansas and into western Mississippi from Cleveland to Greenwood, Yazoo City, Vicksburg and Natchez westward. This area will see storms moving in by late afternoon and continuing into the evening. Further east the rest of the area is under an “Enhanced” risk as the storms may decrease somewhat in intensity as the sun goes as they spread into central Mississippi. On a scale of one to five with five being the worst risk most of the Delta is at level four today.
