Tornado Touchdown Confirmed In Eastern Mississippi

LAUDERDALE COUNTY, MS (Ben Caxton) — A tornado touched down in Lauderdale County in rural eastern Mississippi Wednesday, but no one was injured. Some damage was reported across the border in Sumter County, Alabama, although it’s unclear yet if it was caused by the tornado. The twister, with reported winds of up to 110 mph touched down briefly just north of Chunky around 4:15 AM and traveled for 8 miles before lifting off about 10 minutes later. The path was as wide as 240 yards. Damage included snapped trees and some minor structural damage to six homes.
