Thunderstorm Warning for Yazoo County MS and 4 More

JACKSON, MS (625 PM CDT SAT APR 13 2019) — The National Weather Service in Jackson has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Central Leake County in central Mississippi Southeastern Holmes County in central Mississippi Western Attala County in central Mississippi Northeastern Yazoo County in central Mississippi Northeastern Madison County in central Mississippi until 730 PM CDT. At 625 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Vaughan to near Sharon, moving northeast at 45 mph. HAZARD: Golf ball size hail and 70 mph wind gusts. SOURCE: Radar indicated. People and animals outdoors will be injured. Expect hail damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles. Expect considerable tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings. Severe thunderstorms will be near Pickens and Ebenezer around 635 PM CDT. Camden and Cameron around 640 PM CDT. Franklin and Goodman around 645 PM CDT. Durant, Newport, Thomastown and Bowling Green around 655 PM CDT. Possumneck and Mcadams around 705 PM CDT. Kosciusko around 710 PM CDT. Other locations impacted by these severe thunderstorms include West, Sallis and Redwater. Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the basement or small central room in a sturdy structure. Prepare immediately for large hail and damaging winds. People outside should move immediately to shelter inside a strong building. Stay away from windows.
