Three Area Counties Make Top Ten For Mississippi Homeowners

GREENVILLE, MS (Ben Caxton) — Three area Delta counties have made it into the top ten of best places to own a home in Mississippi. Recently released rankings in a study produced by the website ranks Warren County first among all Mississippi counties, with Sunflower coming in third, and Washington county ninth. The study compared the total costs of buying and renting a typical home or rental in each county across the nation for a household earning $100,000 a year. They then calculated the breakeven point in the buy vs. rent decision – the point at which the total costs of renting become greater than the total costs of buying. The counties with the shortest time to break even are the best places to buy. The break-even point in the Vicksburg area comes at just twelve months which also ranks as the 14th best in the entire United States. Greenville and Washington County ranked 144th nationally with a break-even time of just over 13 months.
