The Wolves Are At Cleveland’s Door

CLEVELAND, MS (Ben Caxton) — Cleveland’s new unified high school unveiled their new, name, new colors, and new mascot on Monday. The choices, selected by a student committee, were the Bolivar Central Braves, the Cleveland Central Wolves, and the Cleveland High Trojans. The wolves won out in the voting. The 3,500 student district is beginning its first year with just one high school, and one middle school after a desegregation settlement. Last year Cleveland High and Margaret Green Middle School were racially mixed, but Cleveland East Side High had only one non-black student. A judge found that to be segregation. In the settlement, the district decided to move all students into a single class 5A high school. To ensure a fresh start the school has been entirely rebranded with new signs, posters, colors, and of course the name and new Wolves mascot.
