The West Nile virus makes a December appearance

Chicot Memorial

State health officials say the West Nile virus is extending unusually late this year, and they are urging residents to continue to take the same precautions against mosquito bites that they take during the summer months. Symptoms of West Nile can range from mild to serious. Shelby resident Jewel Wells told Delta Radio News she was one of the West Nile patients earlier this year.    It has been a record-breaking year for West Nile in Mississippi, with dozens of cases reported in Washington, Sunflower and Bolivar Counties.
