The Washington County Board of Supervisors is standing firm in its decision to cut funding to non-government agencies

The Board of Supervisors concluded that it cannot afford to fund organizations at their full levels and cut the amounts in half. Leland Mayor Kenny Thomas appealed on behalf of The Animal Relief and Rescue Fellowship and said the City of Leland set its budget on the assumption that it would receive 15-thousand from Washington County for animal rescue. The Board is standing firm but said funding will be evaluated again next year.
