Thanksgiving Weekend Serves Up Football Upsets

MISSISSIPPI (Ben Caxton) — A weekend of upsets in college football started Thanksgiving night as Ole Miss defeated Mississippi State 31-28 to take the Golden Egg back to Oxford. Quarterback Nick Fitzgerald’s broken right ankle was operated on Friday and he’s expected to be back under center for the Bulldogs in the spring. Number 6 Auburn also beat number one Alabama 26-14 in Saturday’s Iron Bowl, earning a rematch with Georgia for the SEC title. Arkansas coach Brett Bilema was fired just minutes after the Razorbacks lost to Missouri 48-45 Friday night. The former Wisconsin coach racked up 29 wins and 34 losses in five years at Fayetteville.
