Tennessee Now Officially a State Of Volunteers

NASHVILLE, TN (Ben Caxton) — Tennessee state lawmakers on Monday approved a resolution officially designating it as “The Volunteer State.” Tennessee has been known as “The Volunteer State” since sending 1500 volunteer soldiers to the War of 1812 but the nickname was never officially adopted into Tennessee’s statutes.
