Teen Shot After Video Game Fight Dies

MONROE COUNTY, MS (Ben Caxton) — The teenager shot by her nine-year-old brother after an argument over a video game controller has died. Originally thought to be thirteen, the child now identified as Dijonae White was revealed to be fourteen years old. Monroe County Sheriff Cecil Cantrell detectives want to know how and where the younger sibling got the .25 caliber pistol used in the shooting. The District Attorney is also involved in the investigation to determine what if any criminal charges should be filed. Initial reports said the Tupelo Middle School student was 13 but records now show Dijonae White was born in September 2003 making her 14 at the time of her death at the Memphis hospital where she was taken Saturday afternoon for treatment.
