Teacher Absences Costing Coahoma Schools $6,000 Monthly

COAHOMA COUNTY, MS (Ben Caxton) — The Clarksdale Press-Register reports that substitute teachers are costing the Coahoma County School District more than $6000 per month. School board president Patrick Campbell says that’s “way too much money” and has directed high school principal Lynn Lang to stress accountability and attendance to teachers and staff at Coahoma County High School.

If Lynn Lang treated the teachers at the high school better they might want to come to work. This is experience talking. Look a little deeper into the happenings at CCHS and you’ll find out why teachers don’t want to be there. Teachers are disciplined more than the students!!

Please look deeper into the problems at CCHS. Lynn Lang treated teachers so disrespectful. At EVERY teachers meeting he tells them they can be replaced and if they don’t like it they can leave ~ and lots of them do. He’s so disrespectful to employees. He disciplines teachers more than students. He is not a good leader.

  3. This is a problem with Clarksdale Municipal School District and Coahoma. Neither district treats their teachers with any respect. It’s made clear at the beginning of each school year, if you don’t like it LEAVE. Often, a principal will zero in on one or a few and do his or her best to drive them out the door. Just look at the turnover rate. It’s not because of the students, it’s totally because of the administration.

  4. I am not advocating for rampant absenteeism and teachers lying and faking illness. That out of the way – if they continue treating teachers with disrespect, they will have to close doors as nobody will be teaching there. Teachers work with children who always bring a ton of germs – and add to this the stress and obviously, teachers get sick! Demanding that sick teachers come in and teach is ridiculous. As it is, parents who can do move out of the district!
