Tate Clarifies and Expands Public Movement Restrictions

JACKSON, MS (Ben Caxton) — Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves has issued an executive order further restricting people’s physical interactions to try to slow the spread of the coronavirus, but it is not a stay-at-home order. Reeves executive order tells businesses to allow every possible employee to work from home and defines essential businesses to give clear guidance to local leaders should they decide to take additional action. Some cities and counties have already ordered restaurants and bars to close their dining rooms and only offer carry-out or delivery food orders. That will now be mandated statewide. The order encourages people to remain home when possible and stop gathering in groups of 10 or more even for funerals, weddings, and church services. The order also tells people to stop visiting hospitals, nursing homes or long-term care facilities that house people most vulnerable to becoming sick. In trying to balance concerns about public health and the economy, Reeves suggests that all Mississippians follow state Health Department recommendations to wash their hands, stay home if possible and keep distance from others in places like grocery stores.

  1. How sir, can we work from home if we work in a restaurant with drive thru?

  2. If you would actually take this pandemic seriously like other countries have other states have and put a shelter in place. Cut off water and utilities to the nonessential businesses and make people stay at home we wouldn’t have the increase of infected people that we do now. We are actually surpassing other countries and other states because in Mississippi we’re getting hit in areas where people don’t run to the hospital and they don’t get checked. Before you know it we’re gonna be worse than New York in Italy because you don’t have a back bone to put things in place like you should have! And by the way I’m a diehard Republican just know and I will not vote for you again. You have no idea how badly you are failing MS!!!!!
