Tallulah Man Held Without Bond On 1st Degree Murder Charges

TALLULAH, LA (Ben Caxton) — A Tallulah, Louisiana, man is being held without bond in the Madison Parish Jail. 21-year-old Corey McGowan and 17-year-old Robert Freeman are accused of entering an apartment at the Country Meadows Apartments on North Cedar Street in Tallulah, in an attempted robbery. Freeman was killed by the intended victim during the invasion. McGowan is charged with home invasion, armed robbery and attempted first-degree murder. Madison Parish Sheriff Larry Cox said the men, who apparently knew the victim, knocked on his door, displayed guns when he opened the door and made their way into the apartment. Both McGowan and Freeman were then wounded in the ensuing shootout and later hospitalized for their wounds, with Freeman not surviving. An autopsy has been ordered for Freeman.
