GREENVILLE, MS (Ben Caxton) — The man shot after a police chase in Greenville Friday afternoon has been identified. The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation, which is handling the “officer-involved” shooting says the man killed was 34-year-old Kendrick Lloyd. Lloyd was shot after police responded to 9-1-1 calls of two men shooting at each other in the 1200 block of south Delesseps street. When they arrived they discovered a man matching the description given to them by callers and gave chase. Police say that the man, then pointed a weapon at the officers and they returned fire. Lloyd was taken to Delta Regional Medical Center where he died from his wounds. Neither the Greenville Police Department nor the MBI, have released the names of the officers involved in the incident.

  1. “Police say that the man, then pointed a weapon at the officers and they returned fire.”

Says the man pointed a weapon, doesn’t say he fired the weapon. Can police return fire, if the man didin’t fire first? Needs clarifying.
