Sunflower Representatives to Serve on Correction Committee

INDIANOLA, MS (Ben Caxton) — Sunflower County is home to Mississippi’s most notorious prison, Parchman Penitentiary. This week both of the counties two representatives in Jackson were assigned to serve on the legislature’s Corrections committee. District 31 State Rep. Otis Anthony and District 30 Rep. Tracey Rosebud received their assignments last week, which also includes shared service on the Agriculture Committee. Rosebud lives just a few miles from Parchman and has pushed back against suggestions the prison shut be shutdown noting that the facility is one of the area’s largest employers.
