Stalled Audit Now Impacting Jackson Road Construction

JACKSON, MS (Ben Caxton) — The Mississippi Department of Transportation has notified the city of Jackson that they will not be releasing any more federal money to the city for local transportation projects. The suspension comes after the city failed to meet a deadline for a requested audit of three quarters of a million dollars in fund provided to the city during the 2016-2017 fiscal year. The deadline for the city to hand over the audit and report was June 30th. Without the funds the city can continue work on projects, but MDOT will not reimburse any additional construction costs. And no new projects will be awarded federal funding.
