Southeastern Conference Stars Set for This Week’s Draft

NASHVILLE, TN (Ben Caxton) — This week’s NFL draft will showcase some of the Southeastern Conference’s top defensive players. At least four SEC defensive players are projected first-round picks including Alabama’s Quinnen Williams, Kentucky’s Josh Allen, LSU’s Devin White and Montez Sweat from Mississippi State. Despite losing talent the league has a lot of familiar faces returning this fall; there were no head coaching changes this season after five of the league’s 14 members had new coaches in 2018. It’s also the first season since 2006 in which the SEC has no first-year coaches, but nearly 40 percent of the offensive and defensive coordinator positions changed during the offseason. Every team in the SEC East has a quarterback who has started at least 13 games, and Alabama and Georgia could meet again in this year’s SEC championship game as they are the clear favorites in their divisions.
