Soon-To-Be-Troopers Practice Active Shooter Responses

JACKSON, MS (Ben Caxton) — Troopers at the Mississippi Law Enforcement Training Academy are just weeks away from graduating, but their training this week includes preparing for an active shooter. In rural parts of the state, highway patrol troopers could be the first to arrive on an active shooter scene. Cadets are learning how to enter a building where the threat is taking place and communicate with fellow officers and schools while trying to defuse a potentially deadly threat
