Sonic Drive-Ins Sold to Parent Of Arby’s

THE DELTA (Ben Caxton) — The parent company of Arby’s is buying Sonic Drive-Ins. Inspire Brands took over Buffalo Wild Wings last year and will acquire Sonic for $2.3 billion including debt. Sonic’s $4.4 billion in sales last year topped other burger chains including Dairy Queen, Five Guys and Hardee’s. Sonic will continue to operate independently after the sale from its Oklahoma City headquarters. Many Sonic locations across the Delta are franchised. The transaction should close later this year and is not expected to affect normal operations.
