Six More Mississippi Cases Of West Nile

JACKSON, MS (Ben Caxton) — The state Department of Health has confirmed six new human cases of West Nile Virus in Mississippi, bringing this year’s total to 25 with one death. Last year there were 43 cases and two deaths. Peak West Nile season in Mississippi runs from July to September and even though the confirmed cases have occurred in 15 counties, the virus has been detected in mosquitoes statewide.
