Six MDOT Workers Hit & Injured in Two Days

JACKSON, MS (Ben Caxton) — Six Mississippi highway workers have been hit and injured in the last two days according to the Mississippi Department of Transportation. On Monday a commercial truck rear-ended an MDOT pick up on Highway 49 in Florence requiring three workers to be treated for injuries. In another accident near Hattiesburg, two contract workers were struck and remain in the hospital. And a sixth worker was injured on a job site in Jackson. In response to the rash of incidents, MDOT is urging drivers to dedicate full attention to the roadways and avoid distractions like radios, cell phones, and eating behind the wheel.
