Six Injured in Vicksburg Multi-Car Interstate Pileup

VICKSBURG, MS (Ben Caxton) — A wrong-way driver on Interstate 20 in Vicksburg caused a multi-vehicle pileup that injured six people on Thursday. Witnesses say a white sedan entered the freeway traveling east in the westbound lanes by driving the wrong way down the off-ramp at Halls Ferry Road. The driver made it all the way to the Wisconsin Avenue overpass before colliding head-on with a grey sedan. An semi-tractor-trailer and another vehicle were also caught in the pileup. Traffic on the interstate was shut down as first other drivers, and then emergency officials raced to check on the injured. Of the six who suffered injuries, three refused treatment, and three others were taken by ambulance to Merit Health river Region hospital.
