“Sign” Up To Communicate With The Deaf

CLEVELAND, MS (Ben Caxton) — The Bolivar Medical Center in Cleveland will be offering sign language instruction starting this Saturday. Workshop coordinator Vera Edwards says individuals will be learning “very basic American Sign Language” and an introduction to deaf culture. Students will have the opportunity to attend a silent luncheon at a local restaurant to interact with individuals who are deaf. If you’re interested, the workshops will be held every Saturday morning from 10:00 am to 11:00 am through May 6. The ASL workshops are supported by local business, and all materials and the registration fee are free for all participants. For more information about the workshop, contact Edwards at 662-202-2439.
