Shooting Of Ex-boyfriend with Paintball Gun Investigated

PANOLA COUNTY, MS (Ben Caxton) — State officials are investigating whether a crime was committed when the adult daughter of Panola County Sheriff Dennis Darby shot her estranged boyfriend in the eye with a paintball gun. The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is leading the inquiry into actions when an ex-boyfriend came to the woman’s house Wednesday to pick up belongings. After he didn’t leave when asked the woman shot the man with a paintball gun. The woman fled into the woods until the man left and both people called 911. The man underwent eye surgery at a Memphis hospital and was released Thursday. District Attorney John Champion doesn’t know if criminal charges will result.
