Shooting After Mardi Gras Parade Leaves Two Dead

(Pass Christian, MS) — Two people are dead and four are hospitalized following a shooting after a Mardi Gras parade yesterday in Pass Christian. 29-year-old Carlos Bates of Gulfport and 43-year-old Isaiah Major of Bay St. Louis each died of a gunshot wound at the scene. Police received a call about a fight shortly after the parade. Some residents say they thought it was fireworks at first, but once they realized it was gun shots, they began fleeing for safety. Police Chief Tim Hendricks described the scene on Davis Avenue as chaos.
