Shelby officers win in court

The U.S. Supreme Court has reinstated a wrongful termination lawsuit filed by two Shelby police officers. The decision overturns a lower court’s ruling that dismissed the lawsuit brought by Tracey Johnson and David James, who said they were fired after they refused to ignore illegal activity by patrons of a nightclub owned by Alderman Harold Billings, who allegedly used his influence to get them dismissed from the police force.
