Senior Citizens Knock off a Kroger and Lead Police on Chase

RICHLAND, MS (Ben Caxton) — A Jackson senior-citizen led Richland police on a chase after stealing meat from Kroger Wednesday night. After being called to the store for a report of theft police pursued a vehicle belonging to 63-year-old John Newell. He was identified as the shoplifter and his car was driven by 67-year-old Burnell Hamlin. The car eventually flipped over on old Highway 49 north. Newell was hospitalized and faces a shoplifting charge while Hamlin is charged with one count of felony fleeing and eluding.
