School Hearing Delayed for Two Weeks

Chicot Memorial

CLEVELAND, MS (Ben Caxton) — A family emergency has delayed a decision on a citizen’s group’s attempt to block a school merger in Bolivar County. The group, calling itself “JFK United” served an injunction on the North Bolivar School Board a few weeks ago seeking to permanently stop the board from closing Kennedy High School in Mound Bayou and moving the students to Broad Street High School in Shelby. The hearing was set for Wednesday but was canceled by the judge citing family issues. The injunction is now set to be heard April 25 in Clarksdale.
