JACKSON, MS (Ben Caxton) — A newly elected member has been sworn in to the Mississippi House of Representatives. Democrat Tracey Rosebud of Tutwiler took his oath of office Monday at the state Capitol and will serve until January 2020 representing District 30 which includes portions of Bolivar, Quitman, Sunflower and Tallahatchie counties. He will complete the term of Sumner Democrat Robert Huddleston who had served since 1996 but resigned this year to spend more time with his family. Rosebud defeated Blake Ferretti of Cleveland in a May 29th special election. Republicans hold a three-fifths supermajority in the Mississippi legislature and although party labels don’t appear on ballots in Mississippi special elections, many Democrats endorsed Rosebud.
