Riverfront Park In Vicksburg Closing For Urgent Repairs

VICKSBURG, MS (Ben Caxton) — A section of bluff sliding into the Mississippi River at a popular Vicksburg park has led to its closing. This time though, for repairs. The closing of Riverfront Park was announced at Monday’s Mayor and Board of Alderman meeting by Mayor George Flaggs. The city has awarded a $324,347.70 contract to a local company to repair the bluff slide, and resurface play areas at the park. The slide began in 2015 eventually destroying perimeter fencing, and walking trail while threatening one of the play areas. The park is expected to be closed for at least 90 days.
