Reeves Warchest 3x Bigger Than Bryant’s 4 Years Ago

JACKSON, MS (Ben Caxton) — The numbers are out on how much money candidates for state office have raised, and among candidates for Governor, there is little surprise that Lt. Governor Tate Reeves leads the pack. Reeves has nearly $7 million on hand after adding another $1 million in donations. That’s about three times as much money as Phil Bryant had at this point in his last campaign. Reeves may have some competition in the primary. Former Supreme Court Justice Bill Waller announced his candidacy two months ago and already has raised nearly $600,000. On the Democrat side, Attorney General Jim Hood reports donations of $750,000 going back to the first of the year, with about $1.2 million available to spend. Secretary of State Delbert Hoseman leads all rivals in the Lt. Governor’s raise with $2.7 million on hand after seeing $366,000 in new donations.
