Rains Today Could Slow Mississippi’s Fall

THE DELTA (Ben Caxton) — The Mississippi has crested and is slowly falling in the Delta. But that fall may be slower than anticipated thanks to wet weather coming this weekend. Rains of up to five inches are possible in an outbreak of severe weather that will be rolling through the area this afternoon into this evening. While that’s likely not enough to push the river back up over flood stage it does mean it will take longer for life to return to normal in Delta river towns this spring.
