“Quiet” Clarksdale 4th as Only Two People Shot

CLARKSDALE, MS (Ben Caxton) — Clarksdale assistant police chief Robbie Lindley says the four-day holiday weekend was fairly quiet. By Clarksdale standards, apparently. The department responded to numerous calls of shots being fired and investigated an aggravated assault, two grand larcenies, three auto burglaries and one residential burglary between Thursday and Sunday. Two people who were shot in the 100 block of Cherry Street were treated for non-life threatening injuries. A 2008 Audi was stolen from the 1900 block of North State Street and a 2007 Cadillac Escalade was taken from the bypass near Shady Nook. A purse containing credit cards and an iPad were reported stolen from automobiles on Desoto Avenue, West Second and Maple Street and cash was taken from a home in the 100 block of 18th Street.
