Public Meeting Today on Vickburg Water & Sewer Rate Increases

VICKSBURG, MS (Ben Caxton) — Vicksburg’s Mayor is hosting another public meeting on proposed water and sewer rate increases in that city this afternoon at 5:30 PM. Mayor George Flaggs, Jr. will reside over the event at the City Hall Annex on Walnut Street. Under the proposal residential customers will pay a minimum of $10.06 for the first 2,000 gallons. That’s an increase of $1.31. Commercial and industrial users would pay a minimum of $41.18 for the first 4,000 gallons used, a $5.37 increase from the present rate of $35.81. The city’s Board of Alderman approved the rate hike, which must now go before voters, on June 4th. The increase would take effect in two steps, the first in October of this year, the next in October od 2019.
