Popping Noise Signals Flames Not Gunfire in Greenville

GREENVILLE, MS (Ben Caxton) — A “popping” noise heard by a Greenville homeowner Wednesday signaled the start of a fire that heavily damaged the rear of a house on Marilyn Street. She reportedly told responding firefighters that after the noise the lights flickered and she smelled smoke, at which point she left the building and called for help. No one was injured in the blaze. the cause is under investigation.
