Police Single Out Five In Cleveland Shootout

CLEVELAND, MS (Ben Caxton) — Police on Friday arrested five men in the case of last week’s shootout at the Sunset Village Apartments in Cleveland that left one man dead. Police identified the suspects to Delta Daily News as Tyrone Walker Jr. age 21, LaCharles Ramsey age 20, Phillip Williams age 21, Darren Scott Jr. age 22 and Laplose Thompson age 22 all of Cleveland. All five are currently charged with “Shooting Into a Building” although further charges are likely once forensic results are received from the Mississippi Crime Lab. The March 1st shooting left Marquis Jones seriously injured. He died later that evening after being airlifted to UMMC in Jackson. At last report, Phillip Williams and La Charles Ramsey have been released on a $10,000 bond. Darren Scott was not given bond because of a prior felony. Laplose Thompson was officially charged Thursday. Additional charges may be forthcoming, pending results from the Mississippi Crime Lab.
