Pearl Teenager Takes Home National Boxing Championship

Chicot Memorial

PEARL, MS(Ben Caxton) — A Pearl teenager is the new National Junior Olympic Boxing Champion. 14-Year-Old Forest Hill High School sophomore Keedric White started boxing two years ago just as a way to get in shape. And it turns out he was good at it. Really good. This weekend White went a perfect 4-0 against boxers from across the country to take home the Junior Lightweight Title. He’s the 4th national champ to come from from the Pearl Boxing Club. Coach Bombay Higginbottom says he sees the potential for a career on the professional level. Every professional needs a nickname. White’s father helped with that. He says when he’s in the ring, he can’t be hit. So his dad settled it. When you hear `Keedric The Ghost White`s name announced before a bout, you’ll know it’s the young man from Pearl, Mississippi about to take to the ring.
