Pay Raises Coming to Coahoma County Teachers

COAHOMA COUNTY, MS (Ben Caxton) — Employees of the Coahoma County School District will get pay raises next year. The local supplement for certified staff will more than double from $1100 to $2500, while principals and employees that don’t need certification or licenses to qualify for their jobs will receive a five percent increase in their salary. Earlier this month school board president Patrick Campbell told Mississippi Today that the funds were already available in the budget. The contact for John “Mac” Curley, who was named interim superintendent earlier this year to succeed Xandra Brooks-Keys, will expire at the end of June but Campbell hopes to keep him for at least a year.
