Parchman death under investigation

The Corrections Department is investigating the death of an inmate during an altercation at the State Penitentiary at Parchman on Tuesday night. The inmate was identified as 25-year-old Willie Wallace, who was serving 14 years for two burglary convictions and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in Lowndes County. He was pronounced dead in the emergency room of the prison’s hospital. The Corrections Department says the incident remains under investigation. Officials did not release the name of the other inmate involved in the alleged altercation. Charges have not been filed at this time.
